A CAR crashed into a tree in Northfield last night following a brief police pursuit.

The Audi was being driven by a 24-year-old man and there was a 21-year-old woman in the car when it failed to stop for police on the Bunbury Road at 9.30pm.

Shortly afterwards, on Merritts Brook Lane, the car hit a tree.

Police recovered a large quantity of cannabis from inside the car.

She was treated for serious injuries before being taken to Birmingham’s Queen Elizabeth Hospital, with the doctor travelling in the ambulance with her.

The man, who was driving, was was treated for multiple injuries and also transported to the QE.
