TRAIN drivers on the Cross-City line have began their route-learning training ahead of the timetable changes which will see three trains-an-hour between Bromsgrove and Birmingham, writes Neil Gordon.
Around 400 West Midlands Railways staff, including 240 drivers and 160 conductors, are currently undertaking the sessions ahead of the much anticipated new Cross-City rail services being added to the timetable.
A spokesperson for West Midlands Railways said: “Staff need to learn the type of trains and route that they will be working on.
“Once Network Rail confirms the newly electrified section of infrastructure is ready to go live, then we’ll be ready.”
The new timetable, which sees the three trains currently stopping at Longbridge carry on to Bromsgrove, comes in on July 29.
