MORE THAN 300 people have signed up to help Cofton Hackett’s Katy Dawson raise more funds towards her cancer treatment abroad with a ‘thunderclap’.

The event will be held tomorrow (Saturday) and will see hundreds of people share Katy’s story and her fund-raising page on social media at midday in order to get mass awareness of her fight with a rare form of breast cancer.

Katy said: “Sometimes I find it difficult to explain the precariousness of my situation.

“People often say I’m looking well which is lovely – I still have most of my hair at the moment, I wear a cold cap during chemo in the hope of keeping the toxic chemicals from reaching my scalp so my little girl can still stroke my hair as she’s falling asleep, and I am coping with looking after a five-month-old baby and a four-year-old.

“I would take care of them both till I dropped. “

The mum-of-two said she had recently read of another lady with triple negative breast cancer who had gone through chemo but sadly it had not helped at all. She feared this would have been the case for her and so went for the cutting edge treatment in Germany.

“There is no five to ten years of protection with tablets after chemo for me. I have to continue with the German treatment and I really need your help.”

Katy flew to Germany on Monday (October 31) for her second dose of treatment, which cost more than £10,000

Katy, her husband Paul, daughter Aurelia and son Evan are pleading with members of the public, who have already helped her raise more than £50,000.

To continue to support her and share fund-raising page tweet or share the gofundme.com/katybcf link on Facebook at midday tomorrow.
