Three West Mercia employees swap their staff roles to become police officers

Bromsgrove Editorial 14th May, 2019   0

THREE members of staff at West Mercia Police will be swapping maintaining police cars for driving them, after successfully making the move to become police officers with the force.

The employees – Luke Bowen-Jones, Mark Holtschke and Liam Smith – have successfully applied to become police constables as West Mercia Police continues its recruitment drive to increase the number of frontline officers.

Luke is currently a business support administrator at the force’s HQ at Hindlip in Worcestershire, looking after the fleet replacement programme, while Mark and Liam were previously motor vehicle technicians, maintaining the vehicles.

All three will shortly be behind the wheel of the patrol cars themselves as officers, with Luke hoping to police North Worcestershire and Liam joining Mark in helping keep the streets and roads of Shrewsbury safe.
