Three taken to hospital after crash on the M5 near Droitwich this morning, involving two cars and a lorry

THREE people were taken to hospital following a crash on the M5, involving a lorry and two cars, including one which was towing a horse box.

The incident happened on the northbound carriageway near to Junction 5 (Droitwich) at 1.45am this morning.

Three ambulances, a paramedic officer and a MERIT trauma doctor were sent to the scene.

Fire crews from Bromsgrove and Droitwich also attended and helped ambulance staff move one of the casualties before searching for others with thermal imaging cameras and lights. Firefighters also made the vehicles safe.




The three injured included a woman who was driving one of the cars and two men.

Two were treated for multiple injuries and were taken to the Worcestershire Royal Hospital.


One of the men was treated for serious multiple injuries and was taken to the Queen Elizabeth Hospital in Birmingham.

Three of the four lanes were initially closed and two were still shut during the morning rush hour.

There was four miles of traffic during the peak of the incident.
