A TENACIOUS West Midlands Police dog has been praised by the force after apprehending two teenage suspected car thieves in Frankley in the early hours of the morning.
German shepherd PD Hans was hot on the trail of the pair around 2am after he was deployed to Waterworks Drive where the car had come to a halt following a police pursuit.
Handler PC Mark Collier searched the yard and fields which led to a 17 and 18-year-old being tracked, arrested and taken into custody.
An hour later the three-year-old then quickly sprung into action again when a Vauxhall Corsa was being driven erratically along the Bristol Road in Selly Oak.
That vehicle was also abandoned as the three men in it decamped.
PD Hans was first on the scene and contained the trio who were believed to have come from the suspected stolen vehicle.
A 24-year-old man was arrested on suspicion of theft of a motor vehicle and possession of cannabis and a 20-year-old also detained in relation to theft.
Another man, aged 21, was arrested on suspicion of motoring offences, possession of cannabis and attempted theft of a motor vehicle.
They are currently being quizzed by officers.
