Staff at Ormerod Rutter build reindeer with Bromsgrove’s Men in Sheds

STAFF at a Droitwich chartered accountants have got into the Christmas spirit early by building wooden reindeer with Bromsgrove’s Men in Sheds.

Eleven employees from Ormerod Rutter, based on Kidderminster Road, met the ‘shedders’ at their workshop in Stoke Prior.

They cut up logs to make reindeer and mini Christmas creations, all of which will be sold by the shedders later this year.

Age UK’s Men in Sheds is aimed at encouraging older men to get together and share and learn new skills.

Marketing executive at Ormerod Rutter, Eliza Bradley, said: “After sponsoring the Men in Sheds scheme for a year we felt like we wanted to do a bit more when it came to renewing our sponsorship.

“The shedders mentioned how they’d struggled to make enough reindeer last year.

“So we came up with the idea of creating a workshop where our staff could help them build as many as possible.”

Jo Hughes from Age UK Bromsgrove, Redditch and Wyre Forest, said: “I’d like to say a huge thank you to the Ormerod team for a really enjoyable day and for their continued support of Bromsgrove Men In Sheds.

“We hope the day has given them a sense of what the shed is all about – people coming together, sharing their knowledge and supporting one another.”

Bromsgrove’s Men in Sheds meet between 10am and 2pm, Mondays to Thursdays.
