THE LORD Mayor of Birmingham visited Shenley Fields Daycare and Nursery School in Northfield to help staff and children celebrate its 35th anniversary.
Coun Anne Underwood visited staff and children on Monday to mark the marvellous milestone.
Shenley Fields Nursery School was established more than 60 years ago on a site a few roads away. Back then it was known as the Shenley Fields Cottage Homes.
The current mayor was instrumental in ensuring the school was recognised, valued and supported back in the 1980s when many community resources were lost.
She said she had fond memories of opening Shenley Fields in its current location and enjoyed her return where she enjoyed a celebratory afternoon tea.
The daycare was added in 2002 for children up to the age of three and today the site caters for 190 children aged between birth and five years old.
It specialises in early years and boasts a highly experienced and qualified team.
Executive headteacher David Aldworth said: “Through the decades, children have thrived in a school that has always prided itself on its strong values, nurturing ethos and commitment to excellent early years education.”
