Rubery young people to get creative tomorrow at the Funky Flyover Fandango

CREATIVE young people from Rubery will be putting on a Funky Flyover Fandango tomorrow evening.

Following on from the successful Flash Floss Feast St Chad’s Church has teamed up with Creative Solutions to work with the Rubery Youth Club on the second Underpass Project.

The event takes place under the A38 Rubery flyover (near the new Jack’s store) on from 6pm to 7pm tomorrow, Monday, November 5.

Funded by Community First’s Youth Social Action Fund, the project has explored borders and boundaries, both real and imagined, and how we respond to them.

Rev Claire Turner from St Chad’s Church said: “As the project draws to a close, the Youth Club would love to share what they’ve been up to.

“Artists from Creative Solutions have been facilitating a number of creative workshops with young people who attend the Rubery Youth Club based at St Chad’s Church.

“Together, they’ve painted, danced the floss, written, drawn and eaten together and now they have created this extraordinary community event.”

The audience will be able to watch a video produced by the young people, see images revealed under UV light and seek out hidden messages left by the young people themselves.

There will also be plenty of opportunities to talk to the artists and the young people about the project.

“Jacqui and David from Creative Solutions have expertly harnessed the energy and creativity of the Rubery Youth Club to produce workshops and events that have exceeded our expectations.

“They have made wonderful use of the funding generously awarded by Community First – the Flash Floss Feast attracted over 60 people who came to chat, eat and floss and we are just as excited about presenting the Funky Flyover Fandango.”

Everyone is welcome to the Funky Flyover Fandango but young children must be accompanied by an adult.
