Bromsgrove Editorial 16th May, 2018   0

MEMBERS of WI celebrated the group’s 85th anniversary with a special event at Beacon Church Centre.

More than 40 members attended the event which featured a special celebratory cake made by Marion Clifford and a buffet prepared by Susan O’Leary from village tea room Polly Put the Kettle On.

There was also a performance by Cherrywood – folk singing and guitar playing duo Sally Warber and Linda Birchall.

President Judie Fisher said: “We have been planning this celebration for more than ten months.

“We are a very proactive group who pride ourselves on getting things done for the community.”

The group supports a number of charities, including The Project at Longbridge and the neo-natal unit at Birmingham Women’s Hospital.

Members will also be yarn-bombing Rubery for the Bromsgrove Festival – decorating the village with knitted woollen items.

The group meets on the second Wednesday of every month at Beacon Church Centre from 7.30pm.
