Rubery Judo Club given £800 boost by village councillor

RUBERY Judo club has been given an £800 boost by a village councillor.

Coun Peter McDonald used the cash from his Worcestershire County Council divisional funds.

The club, based at Rubery Social Club, teaches young people self-defence, discipline and the values of hard work.

Coun McDonald said: “It gives them a place to go instead of hanging on the corners, running the streets, or getting into trouble.”

He added Denis and his team did an amazing job maintaining the club and supporting members to learn Judo and take part in tournaments.

“They are one of the few places left young people can still go to and need all the help and support they can and I was only too pleased to help them,” he added.
