Rubery Great Park cinema opens with social distancing in place

RUBERY’S Empire Cinema at the Great Park has now reopened after being shut during the Coronavirus lockdown.

Social distancing measures have been introduced in accordance with the UK Cinema Association and UK government updated guidelines.

The cinema chain, which operates 14 cinemas across the country, has outlined a detailed range of measures which are in place at the Great Park site to ensure social distancing can be observed.

The new measures range from clear signage throughout the sites to utilising fewer seats within the cinemas to allow for social distancing.

Amended film screening times help reduce the number of customers entering or exiting simultaneously.

The staff have received training, there are also screens installed, employees are wearing PPE and there are hand sanitiser stations.

The adjustments, as well as enhanced cleaning throughout the day, are all in place.

Justin Ribbons, CEO of Empire Cinemas said: “The safety and wellbeing of our customers and staff remains our top priority which is why we have outlined ten ways we have made cinemagoers’ visits safer.

“We want to ensure cinema going can be as enjoyable as it was beforehand and we would like to assure our customers that we are doing everything we can to ensure a safe and enjoyable experience for movie-goers and we hope to see you at our Great Park site soon.”

Great Park is showing a programme of classic films – from family favourites like Harry Potter and The Philosopher’s Stone and Hotel Transylvania 3 to great classics such as Shawshank Redemption and The Matrix.
