RESIDENTS living in the same street as Mini fraudster Johannes Franken have spoken of their shock over his antics.
Franken was jailed for five years five years and four months on Tuesday (June 15) after pleading guilty to money laundering and five counts of fraud.
The five-bedroom detached home Franken lived in on Fockbury Road has a small woodland to the front and a long driveway leading to the property.
Residents who lived further down the road spoke to The Standard about their shock after learning of Franken’s conviction and jail sentence.
One man said: “This is a nice area and you just don’t expect it.
“We didn’t really have much to do with him (Franken), he always kept himself to himself.”
Another resident said: “He never seemed really flash, although he did have some nice cars.
“And he came across as very friendly – he always waved as he drove past and would always speak to us.”
She added that Franken had two rescued greyhounds who, she said, he looked after really well.
“He used to pay someone to come and walk them everyday.”
And on his sentence she said: “He has been a fool and he has to ask himself: ‘was it worth it at the end of the day?’.”
