RESIDENTS of St John’s Court Care Home have been busy over the last six weeks making wreaths, soap, moisturiser, candles, wax melts, bath bombs and more for their families at Christmas.
Ben, activities coordinator at St John’s said: “All the items made by our residents are natural and allergy free – it’s been like living in chemistry lessons here.”
A market stall was built from 4 x 4 bits of wood and plywood and wreaths were made to hang on the stall.
One of their residents said: “Oh we have all been very busy here and we have loved every moment of it.
“Some of us have made gifts for our grandchildren and other family members and it’s been such a joy to be able to do that.
“It helps to give a sense of purpose and learn some new skills”.
Other items such as models, signs and clocks were made using a 3D printer.
Ben added: “We have, of course, kept within Covid guidelines, but we have also created a fabulous homely Christmassy feel.
“At the end of the day, it’s all about our residents.”
