Rainbow flag flies in Bromsgrove for the first time to support Worcestershire Pride

THE RAINBOW flag has been flown in Bromsgrove for the first time in celebration of Worcestershire Pride.

The flag was raised above the Council House at Parkside last weekend (September 19 and 20) to coincide with the county’s annual celebration of the local LGBT+ community.

Sadly a more comprehensive event, due to be the fourth of its kind, had to be postponed this year due to the Covid-19 pandemic.

A motion to fly the flag was put forward by Bromsgrove Liberal Democrats in February and gained full cross-party support from the district council.

The move was also backed by Worcester Pride and the Bromsgrove based New Road Parents Support Group.

Coun Rob Hunter, who put forward the idea, said: “I’d like to say a big thank you to everyone who supported this move.

“It was great to see the Pride Flag flying in Bromsgrove for the first time this year and I look forward to an even bigger and better celebration next year.”
