Powerlifters pull along buses in aid of Covid-struck Transport Museum Wythall

POWERLIFTERS have raised hundreds of pounds for Covid-struck Transport Museum Wythall by dragging along two buses weighing a combined 16 tons.

Thirty competitors from Gladiator Barbell Gym in Kings Norton used all their might to pull along a single and a double decker bus for more than 25 metres.

The ‘Big Bus Pull’ event raised over £500 for the museum which has lost a significant amount of income in 2020 due to Covid-19.

The 100 per cent volunteer-run museum opened in August for the first time since the March lockdown, only for it to close again last week.

Gladiator Barbell member Helen Walcott said: “Lockdown put an end to the Big Bus Pull event we had planned in the spring but rather than wait until 2021 our willing members were happy to pull together this one-off special.

“We look forward to coming back next year when the public will be able to join us as spectators.”
