ALL of the marked police cars across the West Mercia force areas have had the poppy logos put on their bonnets ahead of Remembrance Sunday and Armistice Day.
Worcestershire’s Operational Policing Unit confirmed the move for around 300 vehicles and this is the third year the poppy transfers have been used.
Sgt Lee Baker piloted the idea in Bromsgrove in 2017 and, after it went down so well and he received so much positive feedback he decided to roll it out across the alliance last year.
The company the force sourced the logos from gave a percentage of the revenue generated to the Royal British Legion’s Poppy Appeal.
This year the RBL has developed its own poppy transfers after realising how popular they had become, meaning a substantial donation to the Poppy Appeal
Sgt Baker said: “It has been an absolute honour to again organise the display of poppies on our marked vehicle fleet this year.
“I am thankful to the Chief Constable and Police and Crime Commissioner for their support in honouring those who have made the ultimate sacrifice.”
Sgt Baker has also been selected to be at the Cenotaph in London on Remembrance Sunday to represent West Mercia Police in the nation’s main commemoration.
