Police issue warning after elderly Bromsgrove man has cash stolen in distraction burglary

Bromsgrove Editorial 22nd May, 2019   0

BROMSGROVE’S older people are being warned to be on their guard after a distraction burglary on an elderly man in Marlbrook yesterday evening.

Two men called at the victim’s home on Old Birmingham Road and then one diverted his attention while the other one sneaked in and stole cash.

One of the men was white, of stocky build with reddish hair and a Geordie accent.

A blue truck was also seen in the area at the time.

Anyone with any information should call police on 101 or Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.

People, particularly the elderly and vulnerable, are being urged to take care when answering the door to unexpected callers.

Anyone unsure about a caller should use a door chain and then check the callers’ identity and their background by calling a number in a directory, rather than one given to them by the caller.

Genuine callers will not object to waiting while the details are checked.

People concerned about a caller at their door should call police on 101.
