STOKE PRIOR, Wychbold and Upton Warren have a new associate priest in their ranks.

Rev Paula Honniball will be licensed in the part-time role from the end of November, serving alongside Rev Canon Wyn Benyon.

Then when he retires in the summer of 2021, Paula will take on the role of leading the three churches, continuing as the part-time, non-stipendiary Priest in Charge.

After a period of consultation, the churches are likely to become part of the neighbouring Bromsgrove Team under the oversight of the Rev David Ford, Team Rector.

Paula is currently serving as a non-stipendiary assistant curate of St John Baptist Church in Claines and Worcester, St George with St Mary Magdalene.

Prior to ordination, she worked as a teacher until her retirement 18 months ago. She is married to Keith and they have two adult sons.

Paula said: “As I end my curacy training at Claines and St George’s, I am delighted to be offered the opportunity to develop my ministry serving the people in the Benefice of Wychbold, Stoke Prior and Upton Warren.

“Despite this being a part-time ministry, I hope our journey together will be joyous, Spirit-filled and fruitful.

“I particularly look forward to joining the family of churches at Bromsgrove, working together to discern God’s vision for our churches and our communities.”

Rev Wyn Beynon said he was delighted to welcome Paula in her new role.

“Whilst it is yet another change, it means that ministry will continue uninterrupted when I retire next year and that is very good news.

“Even better is that the new Priest is Paula who I have known for several years and who I know will make a lively and fruitful contribution to the life of the parish and team.”

Rev David Ford said: “We look forward to welcoming Paula and the Benefice of Stoke Prior, Wychbold and Upton Warren into the larger Bromsgrove family of churches.

“Together we can encourage and support one another in all our diversity.

“At the same time, by being together, we will find our missional capability strengthened; we will be able to reach out with ever greater confidence and creativity as we seek to bring the message of God’s love and hope to all in our communities.”
