BROMSGROVE resident Doris Raistrick celebrated her 100th birthday with family and friends at Oak Apple Court in Catshill where she now lives, writes Bethany Lewis.

The centenarian, who received her customary telegram and card from The Queen, was born at Parkgate near Rotherham but moved to Bromsgrove in 2010.

When she was younger she spent her time working in a grocery and provisions store.

She met a police officer who she went on to marry and the couple had daughter Wendy.

Doris is now a grandmother of two girls – Mandy and Samantha – and a great grandson called Scott.

Doris also has another grandchild on the way.

Julie Lamare, from Bromsgrove District Housing Trust which runs the accommodation, said Doris was a very glamours lady who enjoyed a gin and tonic or a Baileys occasionally.
