IT WAS celebration time at Bromsgrove’s Burcot Lodge care home today when resident Beryl Pantall celebrated her 100th birthday.

A special party was organised by her family with guests including Beryl’s two nieces and her nephew and some of the carers from the home where the new centenarian has spent the past five years.

Beryl was born in 1919 in Lydney, Gloucestershire, where she lived with her two brothers Fred and Hubert.

She attended Bournville Day Continuation College for Girls and, on leaving, worked at Cadbury’s.

She married Harry Pantall and their son John was born in 1946.

They settled in East Road, Bromsgrove where they lived all their married life.

Sadly husband Harry and son John have passed away.

Victoria Osbourne, Burcot Lodge’s general manager, said it was a great occasion.

“Beryl is very sociable and her family and all the staff at Burcot Lodge made every effort to make her feel special on her 100th birthday.

“A member of our team helped to style Beryl’s hair for her big day in our on-site salon, she looked wonderful and it was a fantastic day for us all.”

Beryl’s relatives said: “Having a party celebration and receiving a birthday card from The Queen made it a very special day.

“Beryl puts her long life down to her love of dancing – she was a ballroom dancer and for many years danced three times a week.”
