Parts of Colmers School in Rednal to reopen tomorrow but it will still be closed for most year groups

COLMERS School in Rednal will remain closed on Wednesday, October 9, to years seven to ten but it will be open to those in years 11 to 13.

The school has suffered problems with the gas supply which has meant the classrooms will fall below the minimum temperature recommended for the health and safety of staff and students.

It was shut on Tuesday to everyone apart from sixth-form students.

Progress has been made with fixing the issues but another day will be needed for the engineers.

The headteacher Ms Leaman has apologised to parents and carers for the inconvenience caused.

Whilst normal lessons could not take place they were able to heat one classroom to supervise and support a small number of students for parents and carers unable to organise alternate childcare.

Parents and carers who have childcare difficulties should contact the school as there will be a few places available to accommodate pupils if they are having childcare issues.

It is hoped the school will be open as usual.

Further updates will be given via text, the school’s website and social media would be given by midday tomorrow.

All staff will be in the school as usual.

Meet the Tutors will go ahead as planned from 5pm to 7.30pm on Thursday, October 10.
