BRAVE Oscar Saxelby-Lee has taken another step forward in his bid to return home after further tests showed he remains free of cancer.

The inspiring six-year-old has now clocked up six months without the acute T-Cell lymphoblastic leukaemia following successful treatment in Singapore.

Proud parents Olivia Saxelby and Jamie Lee shared the update on their Facebook page along with a video of the little boy who has captured the hearts of well-wishers in the city and beyond.

Writing on Facebook, delighted mum Olivia wrote: “Boy are we proud of this superstar!.

“Six months without any sign of that horrid disease, three months post receiving Daddy’s magic cells. We couldn’t be more grateful for our incredible team at National University Hospital – NUH!

“They truly are a dream team…. especially putting up with one pretty crazy mother. Crying with so much relief, gratitude and joy!

“This is a huge milestone and we couldn’t have gotten here without each one of you.

“Thank you all so much, a few more results to come in and then home,” she added.

At the end of last year, Worcestershire and the West Midlands came together with the Grace Kelly Childhood Cancer Trust to fundraise over half a million pounds to fund potentially life saving CAR-T treatment for Oscar.

Trust founder Dr Jen Kelly welcomed the news and said his results were potentially for other children in a similar position in the future.

“A lot more research needs to be done in this area and it is unlikely to be a routinely used treatment until a lot more testing is done, but Oscar’s journey proves that it has potential,” she said.

“The team are so proud to have been able to have played a key part in the campaign of Oscar Saxelby-Lee in fund-raising for life saving treatment in Singapore.

“We worked tirelessly alongside a great team to make this possible and we are absolutely delighted when Oscar’s mother contacted us with this news today. It is truly heart-warming.”
