THE BIRTH of a couple’s baby was made extra special by the fact he arrived on the NHS’ 70th birthday.

Madison Childs, 18, and Sean Walter, 19, who live in Bromsgrove, were delighted to welcome Harrison Charles Childs into the world at the Worcestershire Royal Hospital at 7.43am yesterday.

He weighed in at 6lbs, 13oz and one of his first gifts was a commemorative bib which read: “I share my birthday with the NHS. July 5th 2018. 70 years of the NHS – 1948 – 2018.”

Lisa Childs, who is Madison’s mum and is a director at Broad Street DIY, said: “The NHS staff there were all absolutely amazing, as they always are.

“We had been through triage, antenatal and delivery and every time they were fantastic.

“There was a student midwife who was there through the different stages over the last three days and she helped deliver him.

“They couldn’t do enough for them and the bib was the icing on the cake – all the babies born yesterday got one.

“Before he was born we thought it would be cool if it happened on American Independence Day on July 4th but this is so so much better.”
