Operation Snap - 19 fined for dangerous driving in West Mercia last month from other motorists' dash cam footage

WEST Mercia Police has released the latest monthly statistics for Operation Snap – where motorists submit dash cam footage of incidents of dangerous driving to the force.

In January, 130 films were submitted and of those, 19 people were issued with fines, 99 drivers were visited and given advice or sent advisory letters and no action was taken on three of them.

Nine of the pieces of footage submitted were provided following a collision.

We reported last month how, according to NextBase, West Mercia was the second highest area in the country for drivers submitting dash cam footage with 4,000 provided in the last three years.

The force area was second only to West Midlands Police which had 7,000.

Films are uploaded to the National Dash Cam Safety Portal (NDCSP), which enables the public to help their local force clamp down on road offences.
