North Bromsgrove High School's head student and deputy ready to take on their roles

THE NEW head and deputy head students at North Bromsgrove High School and Sixth-Form returned to the school for the first time after the online vote which saw them elected.

Amelie Taylor, 17, will be the head and Sinead Flanagan, also 17, the deputy for the forthcoming academic year.

The pair will take up their posts immediately after they received the backing of their peers.

Candidates’ election speeches were pre-recorded and played and delivered live to year 12 on July 3.

It was a close call between those in the running and, in a nice twist, Amelie follows in the footsteps of her uncle Grant who was head boy at North in 1991.

Assistant headteacher and head of sixth-form Sarah Figg said: “We are pleased to have been able to run our head student vote this year.

“It is important for students and staff to be involved in such a whole school community event.”

Amelie and Sinead are both ‘delighted’ with their roles and are very much looking forward to working with students, staff and the local community in the future.
