NEW weekly classes are coming to Artrix in September with different sessions for people of all ages, writes Eve Watson.

As children head back to school for a new year, adults are invited to also learn a new skill or hobby.

Calligraphy and Brushstroke, a new class starting weekly from September 16, teaches the art of modern calligraphy and provides new members with a starter kit.

Other adult courses include Gentle Chance to Dance, Songstars Showchoir, Beginners and Intermediate Ballet, Belly Dancing, Pilates, Dancefit, Silver Singers, Tai Chi, Drawing and Speaking in Public.

Theo’s Comedy Skool is also returning from September 23 where participants can learn the art of stand-up comedy from performing arts coach Theo Theobald.

It culminates in a performance in Artrix’s Studio in front of a live audience.

For primary school age children the Stressbox wellness workshop will run from September 18 and will use music, movement and meditation to help youngsters deal with stress.

Course leader Liam Joe Blackwood said he was pleased to bring the course to the Artrix and aimed to inspire confidence and reduce anxiety during the energetic and fun course.

Naomi Coleman will be running the new Theatre Explorers Workshop every Monday evening for ages 14 to 19 which will develop young people’s theatre skills ready for a performance at the end of each term.

Other courses for children and young people include Little Song Stars, SongstarsJuniors, Artrix Youth Theatre and Rhythm Time.
