BROMSGROVE’S traditional Court Leet held its annual Great Autumn Court at on November 8, writes Demi Andrews.
During the event at Bromsgrove School Dr William Tucker was unanimously elected to be the Bailiff, the head of the Court Leet.
The members also elected Jo Slade to be the Reeve, the deputy to the Bailiff, for the forthcoming year.
Jo is the first woman to hold the office of Reeve in the Court’s 820-year history.
Although the Court Leet no longer has any legal authority, it exists to uphold tradition as a piece of living history and a source of pride in the town. Residents and visitors are welcome to attend the Summer Fair Day and ale tasting events which take place throughout the year.
