Mortons Funeral Directors' owner lands prestigious European Chairman role

THE OWNER of Mortons Funeral Directors has been appointed to the prestigious position of European Chairman of Selected Independent Funeral Homes.

Derek Case has worked at Mortons, which has offices in Rubery, Northfield and Cotteridge, for 40 years and his appointment with Selected Independent Funeral Homes (SIFH) coincides with its centenary celebration.

The handover ceremony took place at Sheraton Grand Park Hotel in London.

The SIFH is a global organisation which provides solutions, resources and support to independent funeral directors around the world.

Meetings in Germany and Marlow-on-Thames will be presided over by Mr Case.

Speaking about his appointment he said: “Selected members are admitted to the organisation by invitation only following recognition of consistent high standards, so I’m incredibly honoured to be the group’s European Chairman in 2019.”

He added the funeral profession faced a number of challenges such as the change in the funeral trends and new standards due to come in with regulation.

“Taking this role will allow me to be even closer to the very latest thinking and practices within the profession, which can only be to the benefit of people in Bromsgrove and the wider West Midlands.

“By working together, we can ensure independent funeral homes are able to meet these challenges and continue providing outstanding care and support to bereaved families across the UK and Europe.”

Selected Independent Funeral Homes exists to provide resources, solutions and support to independent funeral directors around the world.
