HUNDREDS of people turned out and £6,000 was raised at the family festival in Rubery for Ellie Gwilliams who is currently battling cancer.

The free-to-enter Ellie’s Family Festival was held on Saturday which was Ellie’s 31st birthday.

It featured live music, face-painting, food, market stalls, an auction, bouncy castle, raffles and more.

Performers included Charley Thompson, former Search for a Star winner Joe James Thomas. Issy Young, Lucy Shaw and Scott Cartwright.

Tony Maslen, one of the organising committee, said he was proud to have been part of it.

“It’s nice to see so many kind people about and great the community pulled together to help.

“The committee and volunteers worked tirelessly to put the event on and everyone who helped and supported the event deserves a pat on the back.”
