THE NEW £13.7million Bromsgrove Sports and Leisure Centre officially opened its doors on Monday and got off to a flying start with more than 1,000 people visiting in the first few days.

More than 200 people have also already signed up to memberships for the gym which has between 90 and 110 work stations, including treadmills, exercise bikes, cross trainers, rowers, weight machines and free weights.

There is also a cycling studio with 30 bikes, a consultation room for the fitness suite and dance studios.

The centre boasts large and small swimming pools, changing areas, sauna, steam and spa suite.

The main pool has 130 seats poolside so it can accommodate small galas and the small pool for learners has a movable floor so the depth can be adjusted.

The centre also has Bromsgrove’s first climbing wall which offers 15 different climbs of varying heights and difficulty levels.

Neil Cowdrey, Everyone Active’s contract manager said: “We are delighted so many members of the local community have come down to visit the brand new Bromsgrove Sports and Leisure Centre to see first-hand the extensive range of facilities that are on now offer to people across the town.”

He urged anyone wanting to improve their health and wellbeing to head to the centre to speak to staff about starting their fitness journey.
