THE MERCIAN Nordic Walking group will walk in the footsteps of the soldiers of the First World War with a visit to Somme Battlefields.
The popular group will take part in the trip for the second time running on October 18 with profits going towards homeless charity Socks and Chocs.
The tour is organised in partnership with Baxter’s Battlefield Tours.
Ian Northcott BEM, the owner of Mercian Nordic Walking, said: “It is a privilege to lead walks to commemorate those who fought in the First World War.
“It is an amazing experience following in their footsteps, we have sold out for the second year running such is the interest in the history.
The group is also planning a trip to Ypres in 2019.
Owner of Baxter’s Battlefield Tours, Stuart Baxter, said: “I am delighted to have found Ian Northcott and his fitness company.
“I learned that Ian also runs a homeless charity and I am pleased to donate a proportion of our profits on this trip to Socks and Chocs.”
