A MAN and a woman were both arrested on suspicion of drink-driving and child neglect after a crash in Rednal on Sunday evening.

The incident happened around 5pm when the Ford Fiesta collided with parked cars near the junction of Edgewood Road and Lickey Road.

Witnesses said there was a man and a woman, along with two young children in the car.

A 46-year-old man was arrested at the scene while a woman, who was 40, was detained later from a nearby address.

They were both held on suspicion of child neglect and drink driving and officers now want any witnesses or anyone with any information to get in touch to help them ascertain who was behind the wheel at the time of the crash.

Two ambulances attended and treated a man at the scene who had suffered minor injuries. He was taken to hospital as a precaution.

The two children, a boy and a girl, were also attended to at the scene by ambulance staff before being taken to hospital for further treatment.

After having scans both children were kept in overnight for observation but, police said, they were not thought to be seriously hurt.

Witnesses or anyone with any information should call police on 101 or Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.
