A DRIVER had a lucky escape after a vehicle flipped over on the M42 this morning in between Bromsgrove and Hopwood.

The incident happened at 5.10am between Junctions 1 and 2.

The person suffered only minor injuries and after getting out of the car and being checked over by paramedics, they were discharged from the scene.

Three fire crews attended, including one from Bromsgrove, one from Redditch and one from Kings Norton, and made sure the vehicle was made safe.

The motorway is now open but was shut for a number of hours while the debris was cleared up, which caused lengthy tailbacks during the morning rush hour.
