A LOCOMOTIVE hauled excursion could be set to visit Bromsgrove’s new station later this year.
The news comes after a railtour came visited the ‘up goods loop’ on Sunday (April 12) as it was not yet possible for it to visit the new station.
Peter Watts of Pathfinder Tours said “We are planning to run a tour to the new station later this year, and added “Whilst it is in the early stages, we are hopeful that it will happen.”
Last weekend’s railtour spent around 20 minutes in the goods loop after it had travelled around the Midlands to locations including Walsall and Dudley. About 100 people were at Bromsgrove to see The Dimple, Darley and Dale train arrive with a class 37 and two class 20 locomotives working ‘top-and-tail’.
Mr Watts told the Standard “We had a great day out, everything went textbook.
“It was good to see people at Bromsgrove and elsewhere along the route.”
The train headed to a preserved railway in Matlock after departing from Bromsgrove, whilst the class 37 locomotive returned to Crewe. Organisers have thanked those that came to see the train for their good conduct.
Here is a selection of pictures sent in by Standard readers who witnessed the tour.
