THE MUCH-loved Orchestra of St John will celebrate the birthday of its founder and manager with a ‘dazzling concert’ on February 29.

The group will show their love and appreciation for Alastair Moseley by performing at St John’s Church in the ‘Leap Year Birthday Concert with Cakes and Fizz’.

Visitors will be treated to a glass of bubbly and a slice of cake during and after the concert which starts at 7pm.

The programme includes Mozart’s Symphony Number 40 and Handel’s Music for the Royal Fireworks.

And Alastair, who will be performing a solo piece, liked the idea of having his birthday – which is next week – celebrated on Leap Year day.

He said: “I’m delighted that the orchestra are indulging me for my birthday and I am very much looking forward to playing one of my favourite pieces in this magnificent church.

“The whole evening promises to be full of wonderful exciting and uplifting music.”

Tickets cost £10 in advance and can be bought on www.osjbromsgrove.org or in person from Decanter Spirit on Bromsgrove High Street.

All accompanied children attend free of charge.
