A WORCESTERSHIRE County Council election candidate who collapsed at the count in Bromsgrove is still in hospital but is improving.

June Griffiths, who serves on Bromsgrove District Council, was at Parkside on Friday (May 5) when she was taken ill.

Paramedics arrived on the scene within minutes and after treating her at the scene took her to hospital where she has been since then.

Speaking to The Standard her husband Geoffrey said: “She is better in herself and has been going through daily tests as the consultants try and ascertained what happened and what caused her to collapse.

“At the moment we still don’t know what it was.”

He said they had received a lot of messages from well-wishers, adding a lot of them had gone unanswered because of the time the family had been spending at the hospital.

And he praised the West Midlands Ambulance Service staff for their response and the staff at the hospital for the treatment she has received.

“They have all been really good and assuring,” he added.
