Join the Bromsgrove Ramblers over the festive season to 'walk off those calories'

BROMSGROVE Ramblers Festival of Winter Walks are back in Sanders Park, Hartlebury and Evesham this festive season, writes Ryan Smith.

People can take part in one and two-mile walks in the areas around Sanders Park on Christmas Eve and New Years Eve, starting at the cafe.

Those wanting a more challenging walk can enjoy a three-mile stroll from the Sanders Park far car park around Hartlebury Common on December 28.

A walk around Evesham town and the Avon Riverside will be run for those who miss out on the Christmas walks, with the five-mile trip starting at the All Saints Church Hall Car Park on January 6.

All four walks will start at 9.50am.

The strolls are held every year to provide local people with something to do over Christmas, with research compiled last winter showing 35 per cent of people did not see anyone for several days over the festive period.

The Bromsgrove Ramblers’ walks secretary Martin Smith said: “We know the festive season can be a particularly difficult time for people who are on their own, and a sociable walk with a welcoming group group is a great way to get out and about and meet people.”

Clara Govier, head of charities at the People’s Postcode Lottery which supports the event, added: “We are delighted players of People’s Postcode Lottery are able to support the Ramblers with their festival Winter Walks, which we know will help thousands of people discover the joys of working.”
