AVONCROFT Museum’s popular Candlelit Christmas event returns next Saturday, December 1, writes Thomas Bailey.

The event runs from 7pm to 10pm and will take visitors back to experience Christmases of years gone by.

There will be a 1950s Yule in the pre-fab, Tudor and Victorian customs in the Town House and the Tollhouse and there will be festive music provided by local choirs, musicians and bands.

Other attractions include the traditional showman’s organ, delicious food and a glass or two of something warm and festive on offer.

The Avoncroft windmill will be especially lit for the occasion and its own stone ground flour will be available to purchase from the Museum shop.

Independent stall holders will be selling their wares in the stunning Guesten Hall.

For the younger visitors, there will be reindeer trail, a ride-on miniature train and Father Christmas will be exploring the museum with treats looking for people to put on his nice list.

Visit the residents of the historical houses too as they celebrate the season.
