PUPILS at Aston Fields Middle School celebrated the work and achievements of local ladies when they took part in an event for International Women’s Day, writes Caprice Harrison.
The year seven students were visited last Friday by inspirational women, including police officers, firefighters, paramedics and business owners.
The children learned about what the visitors’ jobs entailed during the day, which was also aimed at challenging gender stereotypes and inspiring pupils to aim high, regardless of their background.
Headteacher Carole Teer said: “A fantastic day was had by everyone – our visitors encouraged the pupils to aim high and follow their dreams.”
She thanked Mrs Jasper for organising the event.
“She went above and beyond to get all the inspirational women into the school.”
