Information to Bromsgrove companies about council's coronavirus assistance

Bromsgrove Editorial 7th Apr, 2020   0

BROMSGROVE businesses waiting to receive coronavirus grants from the Government are urged to update their payment methods tomorrow (Tuesday).

Cash will be paid automatically into eligible business bank accounts if their bank details are already held by Bromsgrove District Council.

For example, businesses which pay their business rates by direct debit will already be on the council’s record.

But businesses that do not pay by these methods will only receive their payments once the council is provided with correct payment details.

A special online form has been set up and will be available at www.bromsgrove.gov.uk/coronavirus from 9am tomorrow.

Jayne Pickering, Bromsgrove District Council’s executive director of finance and resources, said: “Businesses whose bank details are already on file with us don’t need to do anything at all and we will make payments starting from this week.”

The Government recently announced that it would pay £10,000 to all businesses which receive small business rate relief, and up to £25,000 to eligible businesses in the retail, hospitality, and leisure sectors depending on their rateable value.

The money is now available and BACS transfers of those payments are expected to start this week.
