Independent butcher helps those in need with hampers during COVID-19 crisis

Bromsgrove Editorial 3rd Apr, 2020   0

AN INDEPENDENT butcher is putting together 25 hampers each week to help those in south west Birmingham whose lives have been impacted on by coronavirus.

Tony Geraghty chooses a different group of people to assist each week and this week it was self-employed residents who had lost earnings or their whole businesses.

The scheme is being co-ordinated by Frankley Parish Councillor Andy Cartwright and other partners, including the Frankley Family Forum, Hawkesley Community Centre and Age Concern Birmingham.

One recipient said: “I had a hamper because my business has closed during the crisis.

“Much love to everyone who is doing this – it was very much appreciated – made me cry.”
