'Incredible' Worcestershire National Garden Scheme raised £70k last year

Bromsgrove Editorial 23rd Feb, 2020   0

THE WORCESTERSHIRE National Garden Scheme group raised an incredible £70,000 for good causes throughout 2019, writes Hugh Jeavons.

The total was revealed by treasurer Lyn Glaze who praised participants at the group’s meeting to discuss the 2020 programme.

Volunteers braved the floods to attend the get-together about the scheme where gardeners open their gates and sell cakes and teas.

During the meeting local organiser David Morgan of Bromsgrove announced there were now nine new gardens in Worcestershire which had opened last year.

Mr Morgan praised Alan and Lyn Nokes, for creating the leaflets and Pam Thompson spoke about the importance of publicity and finding ways to encourage more visitors to the gardens in future.

Special awards were also given to Pauline Pitchford from Kidderminster for her amazing work doing the dishes at the Pear Tree Cottage Garden.
