POLICE in Bromsgrove have been clamping down on speeding motorists on roads where residents have raised concerns about drivers putting their foot down.
Using speed laser guns, officers from the town’s Safer Neighbourhood Teams have so far been out on New Road, Stoke Road and Rock Hill in the last two days.
And later today, during the weekend and throughout next week they will be back out monitoring motorists in different areas across the district.
PC Christopher Burns, from Bromsgrove South and Rural SNT, warned drivers who broke the speed limits they would face action.
“The community are getting really fed up with motorists driving too fast through their areas.
“Since the lockdown restrictions eased there have been more vehicles on the road but with traffic levels still light some drivers have been urged to put their foot down.
“We want them to know that we are out and about monitoring their speeds to check they are within the limit and to make roads throughout Bromsgrove safer.”
Coun Kyle Daisley praised the officers’ actions and added: “I’m very pleased to see the police are tackling speeding in Bromsgrove.
“I’m working closely with the local teams to support them with tackling this long-standing issue.”
