Improvements have been made to Worcestershire Children's Services, says Ofsted

PROGRESS has been made to improve children’s services in Worcestershire according to Ofsted after its latest inspection, writes Louise Newton.

Worcestershire was criticised by Ofsted inspectors in 2016 for providing ‘inadequate’ services to children and young people.

A letter published last week commended the proactive work by services in Worcestershire, adding the approach was effective and reduced issues with young people.

Ofsted has also praised social workers in the area who ‘know their children and have built trusted relationships with them’.

Coun Andy Roberts said: “Our staff are working very hard and I am pleased that has been recognised.”

He also the council had proposed to spend £7.8million on social care for children in the next year.

Inspectors also noted too many children were still not in education, training or employment, which increased their vulnerability.
