AN APPEAL has been launched to find the heartless people who dumped seven dead kittens in a cardboard box in Hanbury.
RSPCA officers were called to the incident at a layby in Pumphouse Lane on Saturday (August 27) where the animals, who were only a couple of weeks old and had only just opened their eyes, were found by a passer-by.
They were already dead when they were found and the RSPCA said, because the two boxes were discovered open, it suggested the dumping had been deliberate.
RSPCA Animal Welfare Officer Thea Kerrison said: “This is a terribly sad situation for these poor young kittens.
“It is possible a mother cat was dumped in one of these boxes and she could be straying now.”
She appealed for any witnesses or anyone with any information to call the RSPCA inspectorate appeal line on 0300 123 8018.
One of the boxes was brown, taped with masking tape and had a hole in the side. The other was a white box left open with a cushion inside.
