Home Secretary Sajid Javid meets Crime Commissioner to discuss priorities for Bromsgrove

NEW HOME Secretary, Bromsgrove MP Sajid Javid has met up with the West Mercia Police and Crime Commissioner to hear about his priorities for the town.

It came amidst the announcement by previous Home Secretary Amber Rudd that both Hereford and Worcester Fire and Rescue Service (HWFRS) and Shropshire Fire and Rescue Service (SFRS) would be brought under joint governance, under John Campion.

Fears had been expressed about the plan which Mr Campion said would improve local police and fire collaboration and efficiency and save £4million-a-year.

Mr Javid said: “I’m confident that John will continue to do all he can to ensure Bromsgrove is well-policed and well-served.

“The public safety of my Bromsgrove constituents, and members of the public throughout West Mercia is the key priority.

“Joint governance will create a safer, more efficient and prosperous community.

“I’m thankful to John for his commitment to Bromsgrove.”

Mr Campion said: “Sajid has always been exceptionally supportive round the issues that matter to our communities, and this was a great meeting to discuss local policing in Bromsgrove, in particular the night time economy and the services I commission to build safer, more secure communities.

“Together we are committed to listening, and acting upon our community’s needs.”
