PEOPLE of all ages wanting to have a go at flying model aircraft can go along to an event being held between 10.30am and 3.30pm next Sunday, September 16.

The South Birmingham Model Flying Club will be holding its latest Open Fly In event at Cofton Park (opposite the MG factory on Lowhill Lane).

The group has a fleet of five ‘trainer’ aircraft ready for people to try their hand at and there will also be a bigger circle for more experienced flyers, along with demonstrations.

The group organises the events twice a year and this is the tenth one to be held.

Tony Field from the club said: “Control line flying has three main disciplines – stunt, speed and team racing.

“We will demonstrate stunt flying and show in a static display speed and team race models.

“The South Birmingham club has a long and illustrious history with two world champions, Alan and Brian Hewitt, in the early 1950s whose model designs are still built and flown today.”

Call Tony Field on 07710 280288 or Trevor Tennant on 01676 541641.
