Group of stroke survivors enjoy canal boat trip on the Worcester and Birmingham Canal

A GROUP of stroke survivors enjoyed a canal boat trip on the Worcester and Birmingham Canal, thanks to Anglo Welsh Waterway Holidays and the Bromsgrove Lions.

The group were taken aboard Anglo Welsh’s day boat ‘Emma’ and were after treated to a picnic lunch at Tardebigge Wharf.

A spokesman from the stroke survivors said: “We are extremely grateful to both Anglo Welsh and Bromsgrove Lions club for making it happen.

“It’s such a lovely time which everybody enjoys.”

Keith Godwin from the Lions thanked Anglo Welsh for helping with this, the fifth event.

“It’s a fantastic opportunity for them to step away from the stresses of everyday life and relax, watching the world go by on the peaceful Worcester & Birmingham Canal.”

Johnathon Nowell, manager of the Anglo Welsh Tardebigge, said: “Canals are great places to escape to – the slow pace of travel on a canal boat and the wildlife to watch out for along the way, really helps people to relax and feel happier.”

He added he was delighted the company could offer Emma to the Bromsgrove Lions so the special day for the stroke survivors could be held.
