GoPro up for grabs as teens are urged to get creative to warn of railway dangers

TALENTED local teenagers are being invited to enter a national competition aimed at combating trespassing on the railways.

The Backtrack competition is open to all 11 to 18 year olds and has six categories, with entrants being asked to make a video, write a song/rap, produce a storyboard or write a script which shares the anti-trespassing message.

For each category, a GoPro Hero8 video camera bundle is up for grabs as the main prize.

In addition, entrants from Worcestershire will be entered each month from July to September into a draw for a £10 Spotify voucher.

Rail chiefs say there are many statistics associated with lockdown, but one that has worried many is this – in the first month of lockdown, trespassing on Britain’s railways increased by 25 per cent.

All videos must be made from the young person’s home or garden – not on or near the railway – and must not show any violence.

The competition closes on September 30, 2020.
